2011 NYPD Baseball Team at the World Police & Fire Games
New York's Finest baseball Club which has a Non for profit status, consists of 45 New York City Police Officers who work in various communities throughout the city. NY Finest Baseball members come together as does a family, where there is no rank on the field. We are a tight knit Bunch with one common goal. To enjoy ourselves playing the sport we love and helping others anyway we can. In the past we have traveled to various states and countries. We have competed against various other Police and Fire Departments across the country. New York's Finest Baseball Club is a proud member of the National Police and Fire Baseball Congress (NPFBC).
May 30 - June 2 (Wed-Fri) of 2012 NY Finest will host the Fourth Annual Anthony Vazquez Memorial Police and Fire tournament. All proceeds will go to the Anthony Vazquez Memorial Scholarship fund. The scholarship fund was created by Anthony's parents Rose and Jose Vazquez after a tragic accident took the life of young Anthony April 2, 2003. Each team will play 3, 7 inning games (Min). Games will be held at New York's Finest Baseball Club's home at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn as well as the American Legion Fields. The Championship Game will be at Provident Bank Park Home of the Rockland Boulders. Read More
12 nth Annual NYPD/FDNY Charity Baseball Game
In a game that was dominated by pitching, New York's Finest top New York's Bravest 3-0. In a very unusual game, NYPD had a 2-0 lead heading into the 7th inning without getting a hit. The first hit was a two out RBI triple by Dennis O'Sullivan in the 7nth. The hit gave the Finest a 3-0 lead, and that's how it would end. NYPD starting pitcher Kevin Gieras was named game's most valuable player. Gieras pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, while striking out 6. Shamus Smith, Steve Phelan, and Jose Sanchez pitched a scoreless 6th,7th and 8th innings. Rookie Matt Cresswell Closed the game out, earning the save.

Did You Know?
The Famous interlocking New York Yankee logo was created in 1877 by Louis B. Tiffany for a medal to be given by the New York City Police Department to Officer John McDowell, the first NYC policeman shot in the line of duty. Because one of the club’s owners, Bill Devery, was a former NYC police chief, the design was adopted by the New York Highlanders who in 1903 became the New York Yankees. You can see the medal at the NYPD Police Museum in New York City.
